Conchita Film Festival

Congratulations to the Conchita Cinema Senior Mastery for an incredible film festival!

Students in Conchita Cinema (6th – 8th grade) explore the art of cinema and the technical aspects of film production. Students develop an appreciation for film and the skills to go through the three stages of video production to create a series of original short films, featured in the Conchita Film Festival at the end of the school year.

The films presented were conceptualized, written, directed, filmed, acted, and edited by the members of the Conchita Cinema Mastery Program. Students have complete creative freedom on their films, under the supervision and guidance of Ms. Juliana Zapata and Ms. Alexandra Zapata.

In addition to their short films, students learned about the history of film and silent films, and created their own silent films, which were accompanied by live musicians from our Conservatory Music Department.

We are incredibly grateful to Ms. Zapata and Ms. Zapata, for sharing their love of filmmaking with our students and inspiring them to immerse themselves in this creative work, to Ms. Yirka Ledon for her leadership and support of the silent film process and for always encouraging a spirit of collaboration, to the music faculty who supported the project, Mr. Norman, Ms. Alina, Ms. Yoanna, and Mr. Pompa, and to the administration, faculty, and families for their support of this incredible creative project!
