The Track & Field season ended with the State Championships at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.
This year CEA had the largest group of qualifiers ever, with 15 combined students between 3rd and 8th grade.
Valentina Sarcos came away with three medals:
– 7th in the 4x800m relay
– 5th in the 1500m
– 8th in the 800m + a school record time of 2:24.42.
Isabel Gonzalez, Nichole Escalante and Valeria Avila joined Valentina medaling 4th Place in the relay.
The six combined medals are easily the most we have ever earned in one year!
Miles Charles and Nickolas Canela placed 19th in the 1500m & 800m respectively.
The Boys’ Relay team, consisting of Miles Charles, Nickolas Canela, Robert Castillo, and Sebastian Roque finished 12th in the state!
- Miles set a PR in the 1500m with a time of 4:35.65 that is #2 in school history.
- Robert Castillo ran a PR in the 3K with a time of 10:32.32. Brendan Borges-Telleria joined him in the 3K finishing 74th in the state.
In the Junior Team:
- Jordan Castillo finished 4th in the 1500m and 5th in the 800 m.
- Faid Chiong finished 10th in the 800m and 6th in the 1500.
- The three medals one by the elementary boys matches our total from all previous years combined.
In addition:
– Daniel Ladron De Guevara finished 17th in the 800m & 20th and the 1500m.
– Amelia Barredo finished 22nd in the 800m & 1500m.
– Benjamin Granes finished 26th in the 400m, 31st in the 200m & 44th in the 100m.
– Lucas Suarez finished 36th in the 800m & 30 second in the 1500m.
– Matthew Perez finished 33rd in the 800m & 31st and the 1500m.
