“To reach a child’s soul one must know him, guide him and especially, love him.” – Conchita Espinosa
The Espinosa Method™, proven effective for over 90 years, is the result of Conchita Espinosa’s educational philosophy layered with decades of experience that have contributed to the legacy of a transformational, forward-thinking education.
Conchita Espinosa’s methodology was based on her belief in the power of the arts to transform, enhance, and stimulate young minds. Today, the arts continue to be at the core of the curriculum, and CEA provides a comprehensive education in the arts, sciences, and humanities in an environment where students can develop passion and character and enjoy the precious years of childhood. Each child is seen and respected as an individual, keeping the spirit of love and respect that is the trademark of CEA.
CEA aims to develop the whole child by educating human beings who are disciplined in their studies, passionate about their individual talents, aware of their social responsibilities, and who have a knowledge of and appreciation for the arts.
Students seamlessly navigate from a dynamic school day to the Conservatory of the Arts, giving them the opportunity to experience more than a school. At Conchita, students learn by living and experiencing numerous facets of life – from academics to sports, CEA’s signature Mastery Program, the development of character, and the integral role of the arts in human development.
Character education is woven into the school day, and students are engaged in an environment that fosters the development of self-awareness and -discipline, respect for oneself and others, and empathy.
The K-8th grade educational model is at the center of The Espinosa Method™. The primary foundation, which emphasizes character and social development, is first established through the Early Childhood program. Each subsequent grade level intentionally provides a layer of experience and knowledge at a developmentally appropriate pace that culminates in the completion of the eighth grade. There are significant milestones embedded into the “Conchita experience” of Early Childhood, Lower School and Upper School, as well as in each individual grade.
At CEA, students are challenged to explore and grow to be better versions of themselves, equipping them to develop a sense of self and believe in their own capabilities. Beyond an exceptional academic foundation, The Espinosa Method™ aims to recognize and build on faculty and students’ strengths and interests to enliven the learning experience and support the curriculum, giving students a path to find their place in the world.
Administration, faculty, and staff work together, with the support of families, to cultivate high expectations and help students realize their potential to be multi- faceted human beings with the confidence, discipline, and work ethic to grow, and the humanity to live in a peaceful community.
