We want to express our
deep gratitude to several members of the CEA family
who are retiring this year.

For 27 years Maria Hernandez has been a quiet, solid part of our CEA team. She worked with Mrs. White as the librarian’s assistant for many years before taking over the school bookkeeping. It is very hard to replace someone so trustworthy, but we value the many years of commitment to CEA and are grateful for the care she showed us.

After 21 years Mr. Tijerino, our head of maintenance, is retiring and going to spend time with his family in Nicaragua. His steadfast loyalty and commitment to ensuring our facilities were taken care of will be greatly missed.

For 25 years Vivian Laboy has been a force at CEA. Her commitment to quality and excellence helped hundreds of CEA students become successful. Whether teaching 5th Grade, 2nd Grade or Pre-Primary, Mrs. Laboy has always expected and received the best from her students. We are grateful she shared her gifts with us for a quarter of a century.

Vilma Sanchez, our 7th and 8th grade math teacher, has been an example of loyalty and dedication. Mrs. Sanchez attended CEA and brought her two children. When she was ready to return to the work force, CEA was where she wanted to share her talents. She began teaching science in 7th and 8th grades and then moved to math since her certification was in both, and our students benefitted from her love of her subject matter and of them Her support of CEA and her love are gifts we won’t forget.

We are also saying good-bye to Debbie Marlin, our 1st – 8th Grade art teacher after 10 years. Mrs. Marlin has developed a love of art and a respect for the discipline of an artist in all of the students who crossed her path. Her creativity and professionalism have been a blessing to us all and we will not forget her.

All of these people are a part of the Conchita legacy. They have left a mark on their students’ hearts and minds and we will always appreciate and value their years of service and the love they gave us. Many blessings!
