Fairy Tale Ball

If you were fortunate enough to be in our school on Tuesday, May 6, we know you would have delighted in seeing some of your favorite fairy tale characters who were attending our Fairy Tale Ball. The Ball was the culminating event for a month long study of fairy tales in 2nd grade. The 2nd Grade teachers Mrs. Llerena, Mrs. Prieto, and Mrs. Torres, along with many 2nd grade parents worked to transform our school cafeteria into a ballroom worthy of all fairy tale princes, princesses, knights, queens and kings. What a magical morning! The morning began in the courtyard with some of Cinderella’s favorite tunes – “ Bippety Boppety Boo” and “Cinderelly”- performed by the 2nd grade under the direction of Yirka Ledon, their music teacher. In the “ballroom” the students danced delightfully thanks to Maite Diaz, our royal creative movement and ballet teacher. They were graced with a visit from Titania, the Queen of the Fairies (Susie Millares), who talked to them about the world of fairies, the Giant (Juan Chao) of Jack fame, and the Big Bad Wolf (Alex Lobato) came to let his side of the story be known through a reading of Scieszka’s The True Story of the Three Little Pigs, and Beauty (Joanna Weiss) and the Beast (Coach Jon.) Of course, they followed this with a feast of Snow White’s Puffy Kisses, Hansel and Gretel’s Gum Drop Brownies, Little Red Riding Hood’s Chicken Tenders, Rapunzel’s Braided Cheesy Bread, Royal Scones, a fairy tale cake and so much more. Once upon a time, in the land of CEA, fairy tales came to life! Thank you to all who helped make this such a memorable day!
