CEA transformed into a spectacular art gallery, thanks to Ms. Vazquez’ endlessly creative vision, dedication, and hard work, and our students impressive work and talent! All CEA students and CEC art students had at least one piece on display.
Encantos de Nuestras Raíces was a magical celebration of Hispanic cultures through student art. Each area highlighted a different country, creating an immersive journey for families and guests:
Colombia & Venezuela: Colorful birds welcomed everyone at the entrance
Puerto Rico: Capilla del Cristo, Parque de las Palomas, and vibrant Vejigante masks
Cuba: The cafeteria featured coffee paintings, abuelo/abuela portraits, and clay pastries & coffee pots and Amelia Peláez inspired paintings
Chile: Textured and heartfelt Arpilleras
Peru: Lizeth Prieto-inspired crystals and woven llamas
Venezuela: Luis Montiel-style punch needle tapestries
Nicaragua: Beautiful Huipil rag dolls
Dominican Republic: Clay faceless muñecas descaradas
Spain: Artistic tributes to Picasso, Gaudí, Miró, and colorful pañuelos
At the center, a big dinner table filled with Latin American ceramic foods, surrounded by rice and bean mandalas as decorations.
Extras sprinkled throughout included 1st-grade texture tiles, 5th-grade clay maracas, and 8th-grade “Una Carta Para Ti” envelopes.
Congratulations to all of our students, and THANK YOU to the Conchita community that made this event unforgettable!
