The Caring Cougars and Art Masteries led our schoolwide Jar of HeArts Project. CEA teamed up with Jar of HeArts, a local 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is dedicated to helping children overcome trauma through creative expression. Thanks to the support of over 200 student and teacher sponsorships, students have been working with Jar of HeArts on their “HeArt Bag Project,” which helps prepare special bags filled with art materials, such as crayons, colored pencils, coloring books, watercolors and other comfort items, to help ease the often extended hospital stays of children with chronic conditions in our local children’s hospitals. This year’s project marked a school record with over 280 sponsorships, which means 280 children will have access to art supplies in a canvas bag thoughtfully decorated by our Caring Cougars and Art Mastery students. Not only will they have supplies to be able to create art during their hospital stay, but the personalized bags decorated by our students will be a symbol of solidarity and support from one child to another. Thank you to everyone who participated!.
The arts bring people together, and we are grateful to Jar of HeArts for helping our students connect to their community and use the power of the arts as a catalyst for good!
