Cuban Dance

The objective of the Cuban dance class, at the various levels, is to teach students the fundamentals of the different dance forms of Cuba.  Students are exposed to various rhythms, partnering techniques, and basic dance steps.  In addition, relevant historical and cultural background of the different Cuban dance styles and music are introduced to the students.

Among the many benefits of learning a social dance form, include heightened body awareness, improved coordination, self-confidence and the ability to lead and follow a partner.  As the students become competent in the fundamentals of the different styles and rhythms, dance sequences and patterns become more complicated.  Students will experience a connection to the music of Cuba and the richness of its culture through dance, leading to a joyful expression of a wonderful facet of Cuban tradition and the pride of its people; its music and dance.
