Ballet

Our teachers aim to create a positive environment for aspiring dancers to gain confidence and intrinsic motivation in meeting the cognitive and physical challenges of this art form.  Through the acquisition and building of physical strength, solid technique, and creativity, a respect and love for this art form is nurtured in the young dancer.

The Ballet department offers a sequential program geared toward the acquisition of classical technique and vocabulary, with a strong emphasis on body placement, coordination, and overall movement quality.  The younger levels normally begin with fun exercises and free movement that will indirectly begin their training and keep their love and passion for ballet alive. When it is necessary for a student to begin a more serious approach, correct technique is acquired through dedicated daily practice in order to prevent injury and gain enough strength to progress through the levels.  Students are introduced to Pointe training once it is determined that the student has the physical development, core strength, and proper leg alignment and strength to begin Pointe work.

Along side of the technical demands, great attention and importance is given to the steady development of the dancers’ emotional and artistic side to create a dedicated and sincere artist.

Lastly, but definitely not least, our aim is to nurture our students’ talents and encourage a growing passion for and dedication to this art form, so that every student may take their special gifts with them with confidence and pride.
